Mel, you said:
David, Great well written post!
Thanks Mel. I was beginning to think nobody cared about a real life experience in the use of Iomega products to, probably, a much greater extent than normal. What I was trying to convey was that, under most circumstances, Iomega products can be a godsend to those who wish to exercise them to the extent that I do.
Ever hear the saying "even a blind hog can root around and eventually find an acorn once in a while"? Well, I figure that a lot of users out there may eventually figure out, just like I did, far greater uses for Iomega products than just the simple storage of a few text files.
Here are some examples of my uses of the zip disks:
o Downloaded executable files for either new software or upgrades - for example, the Netscape 4.05 is over 15 Mb. I often transfer downloads to other friend's computers (those with zip drives) so they can also keep their software updated. Why should they wait nearly an hour for a download when I have have already "endured" it.
o Storage of past tax files prepared with TurboTax
o Backup of Quicken file (over 4 Mb now) - One zip disk for even days and another one for odd days
Who knows, maybe I gave someone else here some good ideas. The bottom line is I consider my Iomega invaluable and couldn't stand it if I had to revert back to only floppies for storage.
As far as Iomega stock goes, all they have to do is figure out how to make a profit on their "stuff" based on, hopefully, a lot of volume and they will prosper and so will the stock price.
