David, again good stuff! Maybe we should have an on-line contest (not sure what the prize would be?) about novel uses for Zip disks and some even fanciful possible uses that could boost sales to both present users and to New Users who just happen to notice that their new CPQ computer that they just bought has this mysterious additional slot in it with a funny Zip Inside sticker next to it! I would recommend that IOMEGA consider including a neat little multimedia tour program on the OEM Hard Drive that would be automatically run as soon as the computer is booted up to explain just what the Zip drive will do and maybe have a special offer for a 10 pack of Zip disks and for other IOM products for use by new OEM owners. If they do this well then the new owner at least would know what he/she has and some of its potential. How about a nice set of music files to listen to immediately with the included Recordit software. That and a catchy multimedia advert. plus a special incentive to buy a Buz cartridge explaining that This Presentation was produced with the Buz... Now that OEMs make up about 50% of all Zip sales this type of introduction to the new Zip drive about his new drive and other IOMEGA products to the owner becomes even more important than before.

By the way, have you visited the new IOMEGA web page?
You and others on the thread might find it interesting. I went to their jobs site and there you can listen to various Iomega executives and employees in a "staged" interview process. Some of the audio responses are interesting to hear and may give some insight into who is running the company. You will have to draw your own conclusions... but it is worthwhile to check this area out. The job website is: iomegajobs.com You can even get a 360 degree look around several areas at the Roy headquarters by downloading a special applet. You will need Real Audio/Video to see and hear the interviews, but the responses are available as text as well.

Take care... Mel
