With a huge horizontal base of customers, the occasional OS upgrade horror story is unavoidable, especially in the current climate where Microsoft bashing has become politically correct among the press.

I installed Win98 yesterday with no problems at all. It was the easiest OS upgrade I've ever done. I've sanity checked about 40 apps/games and have yet to find anything that doesn't work.

I like the "upgrade" on the Start menu that goes out to microsoft.com, figures out the status of all your IE doodads, and downloads any upgrades or new goodies you select in one fell swoop. My mother could handle a process like that.

Win98 looks like a winner to me.
