Israel set to double its Net population By Matthew Broersma, ZDNet
Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is calling for his country to double the number of its citizens who use the Internet after a new study placed Israel 12th in per-capita Web use. The report, which was presented to the Israeli cabinet by Science Minister Michael Eitan, found that Iceland had the highest rate of per-capital Net usage, with 40 percent of its citizen online. The U.S. came in fifth with a 24.2 percent usage rate. Eitan said Israel has about 500,000 Internet users, or 10 percent of the population.

While Haramaty practically grew up programming computers, he developed his skills working on communications research in the army, where he met VocalTec co-founder Alon Cohen.
