This is old and in accurate news. The EU came back and said that the MCI internet backbone wasn't enough and that MCI also had to divest its internet commerce business as well. Because of the EU changes the Cable and Wireless deal for the backbone was pulled off the table. Cable and Wireless will now be a bidder for the larger set of assets.

I have heard that the MCI assets could fetch between 2 ad 4 billion dollars.
