I disagree John. Your assumption is that Alcatel can actually provide the entire solution from in-house. They can't and will end up outsourcing a large amount to the little guys. There is too much of a market out there for the little guys to get completely shut out. Historically, one of the pioneers ends up doing VERY well in a technology field.
