Dow Jones Newswires -- July 13, 1998 Salomon Smith Barney Strategist Acuff Favors Large-Cap Stks
NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Salomon Smith Barney Equity Strategist Marshall Acuff sees value in several large-cap stocks.
"There's so much money boiling around in this market, it's going to continue to predominate in the big-cap area of the market," Acuff said in an interview on CNBC Monday.
Among individual stocks Acuff favors are Wal-Mart Stores Inc. (WMT), HBO & Co. (HBOC), Honeywell Inc. (HON) and Tellabs Inc. (TLAB).
Acuff also sees drug stocks selling higher.
"It's the largest weighted group in the market with the most new products and the best pricing," he said, "so the topline is going to look good."
The strategist specifically named Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. (BMY), Schering-Plough Corp. (SGP) and Amgen Inc. (AMGN) as issues he likes.
Finally, Acuff called Worldcom Inc. (WCOM) the "cheapest play on the Internet in the world today." |
