Whats the best deal I can get for about $800-1000. My friends old machine had been acting up and he had it in the car to take to the shop and it was stolen. Dummy left it unlocked at Kmart.
Anyway he trades some and multi-tasks a lot, not a game player though. His old one was like a 100 and he didnt have much memory which was causing him problems.
We cant build one cause we have no expertise.
I see a new Gazelle 300MHZ AMD k2-6 with 64mb sdram, 4.3 hd and 32x
for 999 with a 1 year warranty at surplus direct. And Sams has an "upgradeable celeron 300mhz with a 6.0 hd & 64mb for $1299 which includes monitor which he doesnt need.
Also see a 300mm Cyrix at Surplus direct for $799 but I think its refurbished. Are refurbs ok ?
He was kinda hoping for an upgradeable system with a larger HD & at least 64mg ram.
Whats the best bet ? Compusa's special, sams or mail order ?
AMD, celereon, cyrix or Pentium or pent ii ?
Thanks.
