All,

The recent spate of posts reminds me of how one's trading style shapes and reinforces ones interpretation of events. Only an ultra-short trader would regard a half hour of activity as meaningful. Whether the last half hour was a "collapse" or "profit taking" are the types of things that only traders care about. I suppose that if you live and die with each uptick, this kind of instant uninformed analysis if improtant. Me, I could care less.

This block vs. retail trade analysis fascinates me, mostly because it has no empirical value. Some guy posted on the AOL Zitel board for months boring us with descirptions of the distribution of block trades around bid and ask. What a snoozefest. He finally gave up when one prediction after another went down the tubes.
What I find so fascinating is that people use it edespite its lack of value.

Block trades could easily represent large purchases by SOES bandits, which are then sold retail. Alternatively, many mutual funds use a large network of small brokers to make multiple retail purchases.

Stan made a very important point: IN the case of ZITEL, no news IS bad news. There is alot of expectation buiolt into this stock that annoucnements will be made shortly. If this is not done by January 6, this stock will tank. Let there be no doubt about this.

Goota go, I'm reading the Gartner Report. Sal, its not clear why an oil refinery would have a copy of Gartner, but I will take your word for it.
