Regarding unit volume of chip sales, I reviewed my notes from the Q1 earnings conference call and Zane Close had said that reduction in unit volume is related primarily to the PC market inventory problem. He also mentioned that CRPB expects to continue to increase market share.

Supposing the flat unit volume environment continues, if CRPB increases market share, they may do O.K.

However, as I understand it, there have been signs that the PC inventory correction has been working itself out. We'll see with Compaq's earnings report tomorrow. CPQ said today in the WSJ that their low-end PC segment is selling very well and is, surprisingly, their highest margin consumer PC, so CPQ is up nicely today.

And, CRPB announced today they'll develop their own vertical probe card technology rather than buy the technology from Upsys for $8 million. Part of their rationale may be they can develop the technology for considerably less money as they indicated in the press release. But I suspect they also want to have more funds available for a larger acquisition.
