As I was reading the L.A. Times this morning Joe, prior to coming to work, I saw where Compaq was going to release earnings today. It was expected to be negative except the recent acquisition of DEC would allow them to approximately break even. The big point, however, was that their inventory of computers had been reduced from 10 weeks to 4 weeks. I have seen a couple of articles the last few days that seems to indicate the glut of computers is easing and demand may be making a comeback.

We do have a lot of doom and gloom out there. I also think we are getting close to the bottom - the big question is: "How long are we going to bounce along the bottom?" The more I read, the more I believe Japan is the real key. Until they find a way to get back on track, probably not much is going to happen in terms of a recovery for the semi-equips.
