I think the court now has a different altitute towards algorithms, especially DSP algorithms that are patently unique.

I agree with most of what you said here.

It is not a false worry. USRX will not get TIA / ITU to adopt x2 as a standard. Period. Because Rockwell and Lucent (AT&T) will vote no.
Then the whole modems shipped in temporary 56K technology will all have to be UPDATED.

What a waste! I am not happy because it will cause the general public at least $25 to $75 per modem.
Even if you use Flash ROM and downloading free upgardes. This type of modem will be selling $25 to $75 more than the regularly designed one and materially it will cost $10 more.
You and I will pay for it. Maybe this modem shall sell higher price and have higher profit margin. But let public beware of it.
