Why not say it as it is. LEHM and NITE had the only clients at these prices. No desk is putting a lid on anything. It's market action. Look at the lower bids representing buyers who want to pay less. Please, stop trying to blame the market makers who act according to the demands of their customers and other brokers. In general, they earn pretty much the same whether the price is low or high in a non volatile market - and they make more when there is volatility - IN ANY DIRECTION, up or down!
