Here is one of them, from a post on the CPQ thread... There are also models that have the 266mhz AMD processor for a bit less. As for Ibexx' comment that this is coming out of AMD's pocket, true, but it's also coming out of our pockets as Intel shareholders, in the form of reduced margins on Intel's low end microprocessors... The featured configuration here is quite adequate for surfing the net.... Oh well, at least I get the benefit (hopefully) as a CPQ shareholder. <ggg>

Corporation (NYSE: CPQ) today announced the availability of the Presario
2256, the most affordable desktop Internet PC delivering power for the
Internet and expandability for the future. Providing outstanding value at the
low price of $899(a) after a mail-in rebate(b), the Compaq Presario 2256
Internet PC features a powerful 300MHz AMD-K6(TM) MMX(TM) Enhanced
Processor, 48MB SyncDRAM memory, 256KB L2 pipeline burst cache,
2MB video memory, 4.0GB(c) hard drive, and a 32X Max(d) CD-ROM,
bringing users an engaging and empowering Internet experience.

The Presario 2256 features the Compaq Easy Access Internet Keyboard
which includes a suite of four buttons that provides one-touch access to the
Internet (My Yahoo!), an Internet search engine (AltaVista.com), e-mail and
secure electronic shopping(e). The Presario 2256 also includes a 56K(f)
modem with ITU V.90 updates to provide users with super-fast Internet
speeds and downloads and offers users a 50 hour free trial of Compaq
Internet Access(b). In addition, Compaq is also offering consumers a $100
mail-in rebate on new Presario desktop models, when they sign up for the
Internet Access free trial(b).
