Hello Don,

>I saw a cancelled trade for 10,000 shrs. and a late trade for 10,000

It all depends on which quote service you use. The more advanced systems are able to give instinet info (they do the correct distinction on the identifiers). On other systems (like quote.com), many instinet trades are wrongfully shown as cancelled and out of sequence trades.

Regards,
Bullseye!

PS : This instinet thing gets more complex, I can assure you.
You can compare instinet as a whole different universe (the one of the 'big boys') with (most times) different bid and asks than the market currently shows. As a consequence, some ticks 'stick out' of the usual times and sales pattern and are regarded as out of sequence by default.

Other consequences are that most quote vendors aren't able to show intraday graphs with the instinet trades, because the tick data identifies the trade as out of sequence.

Hope this helps !
