Jim, hope better late than never. Here is someof the better AOL chat of substance. Burton R's sharp eye and sense of the situation I value. Sorry I wont be able to attend the meeting, but will be watching this BB for any news. Kind regards, Carter Subj: Woody and ATC Date: 96-12-05 01:33:53 EST From: BODYIMAGER
For Burton, Swan, and everyone else on "our" side. Ran across a very interesting article in Dec 2nd Worth Magazine on the plane flight back to Portland from Chicago. It was about Woody's new company and product. American Technology Company has developed an ultrasonic device that may replace conventional HIFI speakers. The article said that Carver Corp was already negotiating with Woody on this product. The article showed a big picture of Woody holding this new product. Sounds like typical Woody hype all over again with another product. Wish he was promoting the Flashback in the same way!! Body. Subj: Re:Crawdad--Robust qtr's.? I would have more faith in future robust qtr's. if the MOP, flashback, voicelink, were currently more visible in CompUSA, Fry's, Whiz, 48th St. Photo, etc.. I do not like the fact that 3 weeks prior to x'mas there is little evidence of product availability in U.S.retail outlets. Comdex had at least one company showing a digital camera with removable flash and PCMCIA downloadability capable of voice annotation on their images. On the May teleconference we all heard Bob Root tell us serious discussions were in progress with a computer co., camera co., and office products co.. One or more of those entities should be on board by now as a licensee, OEM contractor, or forthcoming defendant in a patent infringement action. Management by now should be able to tell us where we stand with the camera co.. Subj: Re:Crawdad Date: 96-12-05 02:35:22 EST From: BurtonR504
Thanks for your comments. Unfortunately Eskimos understand ice and retailers apparently don't comprehend the VoiceLink. As I review management's forecasts and deeds some things don't fit well. Retailers in Calif. such as CompUSA, Good Guys, Office Max, Fry's saw an excellent demo of the MOP in Sept. @ the Ritz Carlton in Laguna Beach. NCI was supposed to release names of retail stores and distributors carrying the MOP and VoiceLink in this country. Mobile Planet and Italian dist.and Eurocom are only ones named to date. No other releases to date and no products on store shelves. Co's. projections of positive cash flow by 3rd qtr. made in about Feb./Mar. 96 based on revenue from sale of Flashback and related products do not appear to me to be attainable without retailers offering the product. Management needs to explain why no retailers to us @ 12-6-96 meeting, & its impact on their revenue projections made 6-8 mos. earlier. I'm less concerned about their new product showing on Fri. than why IMO they haven't placed the product with retailers and successfully launched the MOP in a timely fashion. What are all those sales personnel on the co. directory doing if the products aren't on store shelves or placed with large distributors in U.S.? We also need a full explanation of value of Sanyo OEM agreement and its monthly or quarterly contribution to cash flow and bottom line. Why aren't other OEM agreements announced? In May we were told non-disclosure agreements were in place. Seven months later that explanation has much more of a hollow ring. Hopefully, we will get some positive answers and good news on 12-6-96. But then we've been expecting that since Jan. 96, the first 90 days after the arrival of our CEO, when signed agreements were expected. I will be at the shareholder meeting and hope other attendees will also report on it on this forum.
