Susan - A Call option is the right to buy 100 shares at a predetermine price for a set time period. Dec 5 Call = The right to buy 100 share at $5.00 until (I think the COB on the 3rd Thursday of Dec) if not executed it expires worthless. Open interest is the amount of contracts sold for that option period. Quick way to make or lose money and normally the only one that wins is the broker.
