Hi, WayneW and CIMA. I stand corrected. You both clearly have better information than I on this issue. I had originally wondered if ANZ were a kind of scavenger operation, taking advantage of weakness to gain an advantage they found attractive. Wayne, you obviously feel strongly that ANZ can in fact be ruthless, which makes my scavenger thought much more real to me.

I have been believing that ANZ put in their money because they have strong assurance that Standard Bank will indeed put up the loan. Given your "ruthless" comment, I would say that that may not be true. Perhaps they figure SPE will end up falling into their hands like a ripe fruit if SB says no. Wayne, did you mean to imply that kind of an outcome with your emphasis on "ruthless"?
