Blitz read this: According to Southeast Research Partners analyst Anthony Stoss, Source Media develops software that allows people to surf the Web on a television set without a cable modem. Stoss explained that the technology does not require any installation at the user end since the software can be sent directly over the cable lines into a digital cable box. The analyst estimates that Source Media's 12 U.S. patents, IF ENFORCEABLE, are worth "well in excess of $1 billion" to the company. He believes Internet service providers that offer Web access over cable lines - like At Home Corp. (ATHM) and Time Warner Inc.'s (TWX) Roadrunner - would have to license Source Media'a technology to provide Internet access on television sets. Those patents are not in the bank yet.
