To Rob and Others, The singular most disturbing thing I find about all this hype over Amazon is that it actually could be permanently self-fulfilling. Imagine this, Amazon, the financial wonder, capable of losing massive amounts of money in a single year, faster that a speeding pick pocket...yes, if this hype and price manipulation--which my paranoid, conspiracy-plagued mind senses is coordinated in a very "special" way, Amazon, the no earnings in sight wonder could actually dilute themselves into insignificance by buying(with paper that bares their ticker symbol) legitimate companies with legitimate earnings, with legitimate terrestrial assets. Yes, the original money-losing business model could be minimized with enough acquisitions, such that it wouldn't be a significant part of the overall enterprise--oh. I said Enterprise, reminds me of Amazon's expected date of profit; "to go where no man has gone before. Hell, by the time Amazon makes a profit on their original core business, they could be offering website access to extraterrestrials that have journeyed here from galaxies removed by light years. But hell, let the hype continue. Does anybody really think that Barnes and Noble filed a shareholders' rights plan because they have no concerns about the disgusting possibility that their legitimate business, which was built through genuine hard work and the best fruit of the legitimate capitalization mechanisms, could be essentially stolen by something that has no assets--but is the result of one of the most distorted valuation situations to ever--yes, EVER occur(I'm not sure, but I would have done the same thing). Amzn truly has become the Tulip of Wall Street, and I for one, will boycott any business that Amazon ever acquires, assimilates, digests, steals, eats, whatever...
With nothing less than complete disgust at the suddenly, seemingly realistic probability that nothing could become everything purely through coordinated manipulation, which would encompass, timely press releases, suspect accounting practices, minimal real information of the type commonly available(acquistions/float), and a virtual conrol of the price via control of float! Manipulation or not, the effect is the same...
Thank you all for enduring my disgust,
Lee
Let me have it longs!
