I have exchanged e-mails with GLOBES over the Pharmos story. Here is the reply from Doron@Globes.co.il

<<Dear Ariella,

True, Omer Shvili says Pharmos expects to submit the drug to the US FDA by 2001. But, Pharmos managing director said to our reporter the approval is expected in three to four years. If this what the company say, I see no reason to doubt it.

As you know, Shvili also writes for Globes (Head to Head), and I'm sure we shall hear from him soon. >>
____________

I have also been in touch today with Omer Shvili. This is what he said:

<<I believe we'll see PARS send an NDA to the FDA by mid or late 2000, and get a quick approval by early 2001.>>
____________

My gut sense is that the reporter at GLOBES who wrote the story misunderstood what she was told -- confusing final approval/ready to market with submit for approval (New Drug Application) and was also with her back against the wall in terms of deadline. The piece has a few repetitive words (like "massive") and other loose phrasing that suggests rushed writing and editing. In other words this story may have been pulled into the line-up at the last minute for this week's edition.

Nevertheless, this matter must be resolved so we know what kind of time frame we're talking about. I plan to contact the company and get my own answer. Will share what I find out with the thread.

Regards,
Ariella
