Having traded futures professionally, I should say that being marked to market daily does a lot to discipline you. Why? Because it forces you to think of unrealized gains/losses as REAL gains/losses. Because they ARE.

It's an incredible fallacy to think that if you don't sell and just close your eyes that the stock might come back. It's exactly this mentality that has caused some members of this thread to have remained long since the 20's.
