As I have posted to you in the past, I think it is absurd to think that the HP, CPQ, and/or IBM will use their multi-BILLION dollar hardware businesses as lost leaders for service and support revenues....Their shareholders would not support this strategy.....The stock community would not support this strategy....I would love to hear Gerstner's reaction!......Without going into all the numbers (which Chuzz probably could do more effectively than me) It simply would not the most effective use of capital-even a finance clod like me knows this- for these companies to run multi-billion, 0 profit units to support other units that could still be large and very profitable without such support...(Witness EDS, Wang, etc.)....It is more likely that one of these (or more) will exit the PC business first, than take on your idea.....
