GC - I would have to agree with you. But..., if the MMs knew there would be a steady stream of pink offers to sell, who knows.

They also may have the opposite of a short position, which I think is more likely. Remember all that panic selling early last week? Who got all those bargain basement shares?, none of us did. Could the MMs be poised for a run up a la Maggie?
