<<McCourt has the track record to back up his plan.
As part of a partnership with Peter Kiewit Sons
Inc. (Omaha, Neb.) in the mid-1980s, McCourt
helped build MFS Communications Co. In c. into a
competitive local powerhouse. The subsequent sale
of MFS to WorldCom Inc. put McCourt on WorldCom's
board of directors--a position he still holds. In
1993, McCourt and Peter Kiewit bought C-TEC Corp.,
a provider of local and long-distance telephone
and cable TV services. Last year, McCourt spun
C-TEC into three separate public companies that
are run by Kiewit and McCourt: a cable operator in
Michigan, a local telco in northeastern
Pennsylvania, and RCN. RCN also owns 40 percent of
Megacable S.A. de C.V. (Guadalajara, Mexico), the
largest cable operator in Mexico. >>
