(ASND) reported financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 1998. Second quarter net sales were $327 million and net income was $59 million ($0.29 per share on a diluted basis). Compared to first quarter 1998 results, this represents sequential growth in net sales and net income of 7.3% and 12.8%, respectively. COMMENT: A strong showing for Ascend. We have always liked them. They have had trouble for the past 15 months but it appears that their troubles are over. Buy.
