g'day all - dear bayhead, methink NT [or any other acquirer for that matter] would insist on placing golden handcuffs to the mgt team of the acquiree, if mgt expertise is part of the package [you don't see CPQ did that to Palmer, who has done so much damage to DEC but still collect a hefty severe payment.
Regarding the manufacturing folks at BAY, I certainly feel for them. However, the reality of manufacturing in the US is not an optimistic one. Be it BAY or GM, they should wise up. Globalisation is inevitable. The important thing - at least from what it is said up till this time - is that House & co have manage to keep the House of BAY intact [except for those who choose to leave to work for the startups but still demand retroactive stock options <vbg>.] To use our old friend CPQ as an comparison, 5,000! So, is a 100 so bad? Well, yes, if you or I are amongst that 100. The consolation is that jobs aren't too bad in the US. I certainly hope these 100 people can quickly find something - and better.
best, Bosco |
