These guys really don't have a clue. Consumer inventory in the channel was ZERO until the win98 launch because product was held until it was legal to ship it. My understanding is that there is still a huge backlog of orders and that retailers are on allocation as CPQ moves the products out of warehousing. They are probably referring to the total inventory including CPQ internal, which is artificially high because of the Win98 launch.

Likewise only 3 weeks of Digital revenue was counted in the quarter, so DEC could not possibly have contributed that much. If they did, that's GREAT NEWS since it means CPQ will overshoot the consensus estimate on DEC's revenues alone!!! Figure it out - if three weeks of revenue could take a .10 loss to a .02 profit, then a quarter's worth would generate a .38 profit and the stock would go through the roof!! I don't see that happening though, I think these guys just have their heads in a spot where the sun don't shine...
