MCIC sold their internet business to Cable and Wireless. Disposal was a requirement to clear the way for WCOM/MCIC merger approval by Feds. That's why they are both up.

"As a group, Internet stocks did not fare well Wednesday morning, with most names in the sector posting declines.

Exceptions were MCI Communications Corp (MCIC - news), which rose 1-3/4 to 66-1/16, and WorldCom Inc (WCOM - news), which gained 1-1/2 to 54-1/4 as investors awaited formal word of a rumored deal to sell MCI's Internet assets to Britain's Cable & Wireless Plc (quote from Yahoo!
