NOT QUITE TRUE.........I grew up in the area and rode those smelly, noisy, (PE = Pacific Electric) streetcars. Yes, by transferring - you could ride all they way from Venice to Azusa. However, the system was very slow and like many "r-t systems" underutilized. The mistake was not in doing away with the streetcars - it was the giving up of the "rights of way" IMHO. These were later repurchased at substantially higher prices to build the freeway system(s). Best, Don
