Folks...

Well, just who is to be believed here? Are the high priests of marketdom ruling this world or what? When the ANALYSTS do their market surveys of resellers and distributors, and THEY announce what is to be believed about CPQ's earnings and revenue announcement then THEY are running the show. Unfortunately they are not unbiased... they stand to make $ on the short term rise and fall of the ste stock; churning in the market is very desirable when moving 50K+ blocks at a time.

Even if CPQ management is right on, even if some of our companions here are astute and in the know and doing their own independent research there is still the problem of the large brokerage houses, the large pension funds, and the big insurance company funds basically deciding what is to be published and ostensibly believed.

Buying on rumor is probably reasonable when it is based on leaking of info concerning what major players are going to do--- not based necessarily on what the fundamental company is about to do although the two can be working synergistically.

As to DEC influence earnings this idea was out and discounted several weeks ago, as far as I can see.... some folks said the two weeks of merged operations "might" influence slightly, but not significantly. And we notice that there are "other" possible contributing factors, but it is the analysts who publish their comments whose "rationale" for the moves is remembered.

Sigh...
