This is my first post to the group... I am a young COMS investor (long) and also owner of a Palm Pilot. I don't know how much of COMS' revenue comes from the Pilot, but I think this is a very important growth sector.

I bought my pilot from the university computer store and have been really happy with it. I interned with Price Waterhouse (management consulting) last summer and a lot of their full time employees were beginning to use it professionally and its linkage with Lotus Notes ( a third party software vendor was wrote the apps) was ideal for the coordination of their scheduling.

I think 3rd party vendors will be increasingly more important to palm's success and that's been a big reason the departure of donna d was non-threatening.

For plam to continue to grow, it must link into more sophistocated wireless technology. The wireless phone has begun to grow from being a business need to a possible wireline replacement and as costs go down, you will see a decrease in use of traditional wireline use for wireless technology. It is already cannibalizing paging because of its 2-way features. COMS should not be ignorant of wireless growth otherwise the pilot will be outdated soon enough.

Motorola today bought Starfish softwares in search of more sophistocated technology for paging services.
