Glenn, from looking at the unusual business plan, and the reticence to give out information to competitors, it is possible you are right.
But for me, the most persuasive argument that it is not a scam comes from the heavy backing from Kleiner-Perkins. KPBC's biggest flop was Go (pen-based computing). But they have had very few embarassments, and many successes: AMER, CPQ, SUNW, RMBS, ATHM, XCIT, INTU, TDM, SYMN, ASND, CY--to name a few in the computing industry. They are widely regarded as being the most successful venture capital firm in the world. It just gives AMZN a stamp of legitimacy, for me.
