Paul - I don't know specifics regarding Novartis, but in today's San Diego paper there's a big article about the "Race over human genome revs up". It says that some of the secrets of the human genome "are merely worth billions of dollars to drug companies." I guess drug companies are going to try to find every advantage they can to learn these "secrets".
