Ali, If this has been done by normally accepted accounting procedures then it is a wash. The money spent on shares bought in the marketplace means they have bought an asset worth the 3 billion. Will it earn ?
I have always been suspicious of company buy backs as it is commonly used to prop up a stock and if it falls anyway that money might just as well have been burnt.
What do the usual run of analysts say about this? I do not give you the credence they command, but their is some truth in what you say.
