Ken, - OT Just a comment on 'change' for mainframe class systems. Many advances have occurred since you worked on this stuff, devices can be added via MVS HCD software 'on the fly' to the operating system, no IPL is necessary, just plug them in. Also, hardware can be changed/upgraded on the fly, while the system is running. With sysplex and multiple machines running MVS in a ring, you can even add entire machines as needed. Even upgrading microcode, processors within a complex can be brought down for changes while the system keeps running... John
