Michael, either you are just trying to change the subject from jet skis by bringing other things into it, or you don't really read my posts. I find it hard to believe that you could have absorbed this statistic, so now I will put it in all caps:

EXHAUST FROM TWO HOURS OF JET SKIING IS EQUIVALENT TO THAT OF A 1998 CAR DRIVEN 130,000 MILES.

That is about six to twelve years of driving, depending upon how much you use it, Michael. I am not sure how you could seriously argue that it is your inherent right to pollute at this level for two hours of pleasure, killing wildlife and polluting America's beautiful waters at the same time.

And you know from reading the posts and urls I provided that it is more than a few people being injured, Michael. The injury and DEATH rate are stupendous. You compare them to some modes of transportation which are necessary or otherwise efficient comparatively. For example, Washington State should improve its ferries in an ecological sense, but they are far superior to building bridges and freeways to all of the islands. We really don't need lawns to the extent we have them in America, and thankfully more people are becoming aware of the concept of planting native flowers which are sturdy, drought resistant, and don't need a lot of pesticides. Planes do crash, but they are much safer than cars, on a per trip basis. Helicopter rides have always been expensive, so there are not that many participants. I believe they are being banned now over the Grand Canyon because of some deaths and because they disturb the peace of the people around them, however.

Greenpeace activists are not a separate species from you, Michael. They like to have fun as much as you do. They just don't think it's fun to kill or maim animals, or disturb everyone around them, while they are doing it.

Incidentally, one thing I did not note before is that the manufacturers of jet skis had the technological knowledge to make the machines quieter, less polluting, and safer. They chose not to do so, and have thereby really INVITED regulation and the attention and troubles they have brought upon themselves. This is yet another example of how companies could avoid a lot of this if they just behaved responsibly and kindly in the universe on their own.
