I guess the challenging part of the Slot X is reverse engineering the interface. I don't really know what I am talking about here, but I guess there has to be some logic built into the CPU itself, so that it can communicate with the outside world via these different interfaces.

I wonder who will do the work on that. I guess NSM would have to do significant part of it. And for this strategy to work (to compete with mainstream processors from Intel), NSM would have to be well into it right now.

I have a feeling that a better strategy for Cyrix would be to design for Mendocino Socket, possibly increase L1 to 128K (like IDTI) and forget integrating L2 (for now).

But still, getting MXi out the door quickly should be the highest priority.
