>> I thought that they were possibly one of their suppliers

It's what the internet is all about. Middle men have no value on the internet and will all eventually be cut out of the picture by their suppliers first and then eventually by the manufacturers themselves (in the book business, by publishers - examples include Bertelsmann who has already announced their intent do this). Baker and Taylor are AMZN's suppliers. Bertelsmann is the monster in the back that has the power to eventually crush all of the on-line retailers. They own Bantam, Doubleday, Dell, Random House, tons of small publishers ... They already have hundreds of operational web sites world wide through companies that they own that sell book's CD's (eg. BMG) etc. This is what Dell computers is all about - how will Joe's computers compete with Dell? The same applies to Dell publishing.
