Yeah, if they make their best profit on the cheapest PC . Are you accusing Compaq of deliberately lying in a public press release?
Don't be shy to back it up if you are, I want to hear details. or are you just blowing smoke?


Listen and you might learn something. Did it ever occur to you, that CPQ's statements could be deceptive without lying. If they didn't make anything on the high end PC's, then even a penny profit on their low PC end would make their statement true. However I would NOT conclude what you concluded below:

You said: This is a new twist on PC profitability. I sure didn't think that the sweet spot for profits would ever be at the bottom of the PC world lineup. This doesn't give PC makers much of an incentive to load up on the top-of-the-line PII's though.

You said that in reference to CPQ's statements.

I pointed out to you that DELL made over a billion in profit last year and DELL continues to focus on the high end. CPQ made only a 1 cnt last Qtr and only 2 cts this Qtr.
