What Greenspan was doing was politely asking the market to take profits off the table NOW, so that there is room for upward momentum appropriate to good earnings reports in the next qtr, etc. When good earnings spark immediate selloffs, that smells of rampent speculation. This correction was to happen anyway and had already started before he spoke. Maybe he's not a market "timer" but is obviously a market "MOVER". What power. Better cash in on those momentum stocks, guys! (IMHO, of course). GOOD LUCK TO THE SMALL INVESTOR!!!!!! marie.
