Tero,

The sound quality issue has been completely changed by the EFR technology incorporated in all new GSM handsets

What about the large installed base of phones with inferior sound quality? What are they going to tell their friends?

it's the stand-by time that matters to most consumers, not the talk time; few people spend hours on mobile phone.

Stand-by time is matters most to GSM users, since the per minute charges are so much higher in the US than CDMA. CDMA users can afford to actually talk on their phones.

Meanwhile, GSM is where the handset profits are at.

If you hare handset only company, that would be an important consideration. But some companies have more to offer than handsets.
