Stephen was addressing the religous leaders of the time as you well know. If Mark Silvers were a religous leader leading the masses away from the truth of God I would have to agree with you, but he is not. Stephen was building on the work of Christ to break down the man made religous system that warped the truth of the Old Testament and tried to get the focus back onto God not rules. Stephen was addressing people who were about to kill him.

I cannot remember any situations of one on one evangelism where harsh words were the approach rather than love. Did Jesus call the woman at the well a slut (by worldly terms she qualified for the title) , did Jesus call Mary Magdelene a demon possessed whore (she was)? No, He did not. Rather He won them to Himself with love.

I agree that Jesus and the Apostles attacked man made religous systems, but never did they attack individuals who were willing to have honest discussions about God. Mark is an individual who is willing to listen to what Christianity is and what it has to offer. I think he is entitled to see the love that God has to offer him.

I am honestly ashamed to be in this conversation, I don't like to rebuke anybody because I fully recognize my sinfulness. But my desire to tell people about Jesus Christ and the love He offers has driven me to do so in the hopes that Mark in some way can see my compassion and love for people and perhaps embrace Jesus as truth.
