There is not one person that comes to the Lord without the Lord revealing Himself to them and drawing them. Therefore we have to be sensitive to His Spirit and show the fleshy heart fruits of the Spirit and not conceit with hostility. In case you need a refresher the fruit of the Spirit is JOY,peace, PATIENCE, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Without these you are not in the will of God but have become a resounding gong without love.
Stephen (a Jew) was led totally by the Spirit for that moment as we have to be at all times to do His will instead of our own will. The conversion of Paul was to the Glory of Jesus at the Damascus experience. The words of Stephen are not credited by Paul but the words of the Master are. You give so much credit to men and the Lord is the One we obey and serve for it is His work and we are His servants when we show His love to all people.
When He seperates the sheep from the goats why does He say when I was hungry you gave me something to eat, when I was thirsty you gave me something to drink, when I was naked you clothed me, when I was in prison you came and visited me, etc... Why did he not say you rightly divided the truth no matter how harsh and cruel you were?
I sincerely pray for you to have a circumcision of your heart.
Nancy
