Gene, IBM PC is struggling right now (especially consumer side), losing business to CPQ, DELL, Gateway, HP, and now even Micron. This will become evident next week. Their consumer PC-lineup looks pretty weak, imo. I do think they sell Celerons to business segment.
I was surpised to see Compaq offering a variety of Celeron processors in their consumer PC line-up. Anyone else notice that on the main screen, they just list the processor speed, not manufacturer. Only if you click on it for more details do they reveal if its a AMD/INTEL chip.
Yes, Mendocino will have a HUGE impact on the low-end, imo, and it's coming faster than most people think.
