Nepisiguit Project Bathurst, New Brunswick

Don Willoughby, Investor Relations of Major General Resources Ltd. announces that five significant bedrock conductors have been interpreted on Major General's Nepisiguit property at Bathurst, New Brunswick. Our consulting geophysicist has completed an interpretation of the 152 km. long high powered electromagnetic survey which can detect massive sulphides to depths of 500 metres.

The conductors vary in length from 400 to 1000 metres with depths ranging to over 200 metres. Only one of the conductors has been drill tested. Sub ore-grade base metal mineralization was intersected at a depth of about 100 metres, however, the stronger, deeper portion of the conductor remains untested. Another of the conductors requires further definition as it is a corner of the property where survey lines are sub parallel to the rock sequences.

The properties are situated in the middle of the giant Bathurst Base Metal Camp, (see map) in which past and present reserves exceed 200 million tonnes of high grade zinc-lead ore. All of the conductors are situated within or at the edge of the felsic augen schist which is the key host formation for these giant deposits.

The Nepisiguit property consists of the Rio Algom (180 claims) and Stewart (9 claims) options. The Company can earn a 100% interest in Rio Algom's claims, subject to a back-in right of up to 55%. On the Stewart option Major General can earn 100% interest subject to a 2% NSR with a 1% buydown for $1 million.

One of the EM conductors is on the Stewart option while four others are on the Rio Algom option. Major General intends to drill test these conductors in 1997. A map is available for Nepisiguit property.
