Cutting losses does not equal panicking. If it was part of your original game plan to hold onto stock down to a certain level, that's good sound money management. But it's entirely different to say, "Gee, the stock has gone down much lower than I thought it would; therefore, I'm going to hold on and hope for the best." THAT is a sign of someone who can't admit that they're wrong and usually makes a small loss into a big one.
