Mike: checked the technology of Staar by Yahoo Search of Company, leading to internet site of Ocular Surgery News. Great deal of information about IOL's and implantable contact lenses there. Now it's mostly experimental or for treatment of very poor vision, but field does show a great promise for growth. At a PE of 25 (or 20 on next year's estimate), it seems like a very good speculative buy. The bump in RMED stock was nice, but that was one of the smaller premiums I have seen paid on a takeover. Given their past relationship, I doubt Baxter would make an offer on UTMD, although someone else might, but of course you can't invest hoping on a takeover. I'm just holding UTMD as a long term investor now.
