"Sorry, but I don't agree. I've seen many of their "rumors" turn out to be true"

Name just one...

"Can you state exactly how MacOS Rumors causes harm? Please tell us your position so we can all "realize" it."

Hmm... where to start... Their 'technical' rumors are amusing and obviously written by people with no technical backgrounds. How about all the bad rumors about yellow box on linux, yellow box on irix, yellow box on you name it...

The only place I've known that got rumors right was Macintouch and Mac the Knife. A good example is the palm-sized Newton. I knew Newton developers at Apple that told me about the device, but of course the Newton group was disbanded before anything came of it...

On the non-technlical side; recently, the rumor that it was going to be announced at MacWorld that Disney Hotels were going to buy iMacs for their rooms. Even trivial rumors like the fact the Jobs was going to give the keynote from Disney.

Bad rumors in the past: The rumors about Jobs throwing a fit and calling security to have a potential CEO thrown off the campus. Their Rumor that Apple was going to announce a partnership with Oracle which drove the stock up to 26 or so. Of course, when the rumor didn't go through it dropped way down. (Maybe rumors didn't cause the jump and drop, but there's no other explanation I can think of).

"Personally, I'd rather have an inkling of things to come, and I consider MacOS Rumors and other quality rumor sites a valuable resource."

God. Don't! The things I know about, programming/engineering issues, Rumors has been laughably off on. I can't imagine how they do on things I have no idea about. I've been with Apple Engineers as they gleefully pour over the Rumors site laughing their asses off! I've interracted with people here that have fed Rumors bad rumors just for kicks. If you listen to Rumors, and worse yet, base decisions off of it, you'll get screwed.
