STRONG SELL Rec SRCM - Buyer Beware
SRCM HYPES Interactive Channel Failure in Colorado Springs....
<<<Grant, I think that after the Colorado trials, they saw how far reaching their tech was and this is what may have spurred the interest? only a guess?>>>
Rocketeer,
If you followed the Colorado SRCM trials you would know that they were a complete failure. The Cable operator - Century (the former CableVision) dropped the service. Here is a part of a story written in the local Colorado Springs Gazette dated Feb 5 about the SRCM "Interactive Channel" failure - note below SRCM's HYPE'ed up press release about the failure:
*********************** From the Colorado Springs Gazette-Telegraph
Century, the former Cablevision, launched the Interactive Channel on Aug 30, 1996. The partners in the project were Source Media Inc. of Dallas, which created the channel; and The Gazette, which provided it with news and other information.
"It never lived up to expectations," Shreffler said.
Scheffler said he doubted the $6.95 fee was too expensive. Rather, he speculated viewers wanted the internet like service - something that would allow them to surf sites as they do on the world wide web."

Now here's SRCM's version of the Colorado trial from their April 20 press release:
**********************
Having completed a successful eighteen month commercial evaluation of Source Media's interactive capabilities in the Century Communications' Colorado Springs, Colorado cable system, the Company believes its Dallas-based Interactive Channel is well-positioned to deliver its digital interactive applications to the cable industry in conjunction with the growing rollout of digital set-tops.

It is our STRONG opinion SRCM's Interactive Channel is a complete failure and will never be profitable in any market. |
